If you’re a true BMW fan, you’ll know just how rare the BMW M1 AHG Studie is.

You’ll also know much of a stir it’d cause if one went to auction.

Now just imagine how much chaos it would cause if said car was once owned by Paul Walker.

Well, that’s exactly what’s happening.

A genuine M1 AHG Studie is set to go under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s in Miami in a few days.

CHECK THIS OUT!

Based on the iconic mid-engined supercar, the M1 AHG Studie is the brainchild of Peter Gartermann, president and owner of German BMW dealer AHG.

With the AHG Studie, Gartermann transformed a standard road-going M1 into the ultimate Procar-style street machine.

From the outside, the changes were clear, with aggressive Procar-inspired front and rear spoilers, side skirts, and flared wheel arches.

But modifications went well beyond the imposing bodywork.

The M1 AHG Studie received an adjustable racing suspension and 16-inch three-piece BBS wheels – eight inches wide up front and nine inches at the rear.

The engine was uprated to 350 horsepower and mated to a special racing clutch and a new exhaust system.

Still very much intended for the street, the interior was upgraded with leather seat inserts in place of the stock ones and additional speakers were added to enhance the stereo system.

Further increasing exclusivity, AHG commissioned the renowned German paint shop Hermann Altmiks to finish each M1 in unique livery as directed by the customer.

It is believed that no more than 10 examples with what AHG Studie package were created, each one unique.

The world’s rarest BMW

This particular car is believed to be an original M1 AHG Studie, as indicated by markinbgs throughout the body, including the “altmiks lackdesign” signature painted just below the driver-side taillight.

Not much is known about this beauty’s early history, other than it was built in 1979 and delivered to a BMW dealer in Germany.

The car ultimately found its way into the famous Ed Weaver Collection in Dalton, Georgia, where it resided until 1995.

In 2011, it was purchased by renowned collector Don Davis and soon thereafter, it was acquired by the AE Collection of Paul Walker and Roger Rodas, who were both killed in a tragic crash in 2013.

It may be 42 years old, but this BMW has been sparingly driven its entire life, showing only 6,821 kilometers (4,238 miles) on the odometer.

BMW M1 AHG Studie price

It’s estimated that the M1 AHG Studie will fetch between $450,000 and $550,000 when it goes under the hammer here on December 10.

Regular models have achieved considerably higher prices at auction, so we’re expecting one – with its provenance, low mileage, and rarity – to go for much more than that.

P.S. The ultra-rare BMW M1 AHG Studie once owned by American actor, Paul Walker just sold at auction for $648,500 – almost $100,000 more than the auction estimate.
