The tank from Fast and Furious 8 is for sale – and it’s less expensive than you think

This military-grade tank was used in The Fate of the Furious, ie Fast and Furious 8, and it’s now for sale.

It cost three-quarters of a million dollars to build but it’s now being sold at a huge discount through Mecum Auctions.

Built by a private company called Howe & Howe, the tank is a modified prototype based on existing military vehicle called the ‘Ripsaw’.

The company made a few changes to make it Hollywood-worthy and usable in the movie, but the tank is still very closely related to the actual military vehicle used by the US Army.

In fact, here’s a crazy story, it was actually the US Department of Defense that gave Universal Pictures producers the tank for the film.

Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Tej Parker in the Fast Saga, actually said as much in a podcast interview.

The engine is a 6.6-liter Duramax V8 diesel, putting out 800 horsepower and a whopping 1,200 lb-ft of torque.

For reference, that’s more torque than the Ferrari LaFerrari and the Lamborghini Aventador… combined.

The Ripsaw can only do 60 mph (100 km/h), but it can do that on any surface and any terrain.

In the film, the tank is shown driving at full chat on ice.

Universal spent over $750,000 on this monster but Mecum Auctions provided a rather pessimistic pre-auction estimate of ‘just’ $180,000.

The problem is the Fast and Furious tank isn’t road legal.

This wouldn’t be a big deal if we were talking about a collectible vintage car, which would end up in a garage anyway, or a track-only racer, which could be used, well, around the track.

Unfortunately this tank is neither of those things, meaning the would-be owner will only be able to use it on private grounds.

Unless they want to buy just to park it in an air-conditioned vault next to a giant poster of Ludacris and Vin Diesel.
