Dodge Charger Daytona EV unveiled as world’s first electric muscle car

It’s been a long time coming, but the world’s first electric muscle car has finally been unveiled.

Just this week, Dodge revealed the new 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV.

Electric cars are quick, but the electric Dodge Charger is on another level, delivering Hellcat Redeye levels of performance.

According to Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand CEO, the next generation of Dodge muscle has arrived.

“The electrified 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack delivers Charger Hellcat Redeye levels of performance and announces its presence through the world’s first Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust,” Kuniskis explained.

Underpinned by Stellantis‘ STLA Large platform, all-wheel drive is standard on the Dodge Charger Daytona EV.

It comes with a 400V propulsion system that’s said to deliver “supercharged V-8 performance”, with instant torque and zero tailpipe emissions.

That system uses a high-voltage battery pack, a dual-integrated charge module, and a front and rear EDM.

The EDM on the front features a front wheel disconnect, improving range and efficiency.

The rear EDM includes a mechanical limited slip-differential for better traction and performance.

Combined, both EDMs generate 355 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque.

With up to 670 hp (Scat Pack), the Dodge Charger Daytona EV is said to hit 0 to 60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 3.3 seconds.

What’s more, the electric Charger comes packed with features like PowerShot (an added 40 hp boost), high-performance brakes, brake-by-wire eBoost, a multi-link suspension, and race options (donut, drift line lock, launch control, and race prep), to name a few.

Apparently, the Dodge Charger Daytona EV will cover 317 miles (510 kilometers) between charges, with the higher-performance Scat Pack providing 260 miles (418 kilometers) of range.

Both models are said to recharge from 20 percent to 80 percent in “just 27 minutes.”

Looks-wise, the new Charger clearly draws inspiration from its predecessors, retaining the muscular widebody stance.

As a nod to the original Dodge Charger design, it includes a front R-Wing which enables airflow through a pass-through area on the front to enhance downforce.

There’s also a full-length LED front light bar, as well a lit Fratzog logo, the symbol of Dodge’s next-gen vehicles, centered on the front, too.

Meanwhile, round the back, there’s red “ring of fire” LED rear taillamps.

Then, on the inside, the new electric charger features a 10.25-inch (or available 16-inch) driver display and a 12.3-inch center infotainment screen.

The steering wheel, geared for performance, comes with a flat top and bottom design, while there’s also a set of paddle shifters for regenerative braking levels and a new PowerShot button.

Production of the Dodge Charger Daytona EV will kick off in mid-2024 with an expected starring price of around $55,000.
