Watch the Rocket Bike do a quarter mile in under 6 seconds

When it comes to drag racing, running a good time all depends on the type of vehicle you’re rushing down the lane.
Behind the wheel of a car, a time below 10 seconds is considered a strong performance – same goes for a stock motorbike with minimal mods.
Jump up to a specially-prepared motorbike, and the bar drops to somewhere around the six-second mark.
That’s when this guy shows up on his Rocket Bike.

Frenchman Eric Teboul is a speed demon – there’s no other way to put it.
With his Rocket Bike, Teboul AKA ‘Rocketman’ travels far and wide to drag racing events to show off his special ride.
On one of his latest runs at Santa Pod Raceway in the UK, Teboul was able to complete the race in 5.4 seconds, reaching the ludicrous speed of 420 km/h (261 mph).
The crazy thing is, that’s not even his fastest time.
In 2013, Teboul set a speed record by doing the quarter-mile run in 5.12 seconds.
During that particular race, he reached a speed of 264 mph (425 km/h) which is 16 mph (26 km/h) shy of his own personal speed record of 452 km/h (281 mph) set in 2011.
While Teboul gets most of the merit for his record-breaking runs – and rightly so – his weapon of choice is certainly worth a mention.
His insane Rocket Bike runs on liquid hydrogen peroxide compressed into a catalyst that breaks fuel down into steam and oxygen.
In order to propel the bike forward, 1,200-degree, high-pressure gas is expelled through a nozzle.
Believe it or not, but the bike doesn’t actually have a throttle – once the reaction begins, it accelerates until it runs out of fuel.
Therefore, Teboul has to be extremely precise with the quantity of hydrogen peroxide that he adds to the tank because, if he adds too much, the bike will run off the track.
