It’s been a long time since the Audi RS 4 Avant came out — well, a quarter of a century to be precise — and the automaker is celebrating the silver jubilee with a special edition of the car.

And since it seems like the right time, it will be the final RS 4 Avant ever.

But there’s nothing to worry about, a newer RS 5 Avant will soon take its place.

So, what’s the performance wagon getting on its 25th birthday?

Before we get to the changes, it’s important to know the car’s special name — the Audi RS 4 Avant Edition 25 Years.

It’s quite the moniker, but it’s acceptable considering it will be the final edition in the RS 4 series.

There are a lot of things going on with the new special edition, and the most visible change is certainly its color.

Now, a bold color isn’t as fun as having the ability to play video games from your car’s headlights, but it’s there.

The automaker decided to spray the RS 4 with a bright shade of yellow, which it’s calling Imola Yellow.

The yellow respray is a tribute to the original RS 4 Avant launched back in 1999.

But that’s just on the outside — the real deal is sitting under the hood and inside the cabin.

It’s got a fair bit of performance upgrades, with the familiar twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine now producing 464 horsepower and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque.

That’s 20 more horses compared to the previous model.

Audi claims the upgraded powertrain can make the car pull off 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.7 seconds.

While it may only be 0.4 seconds quicker than its predecessor, it’s impressive for a performance wagon.

Other minor upgrades also include a stiffer and more flexible suspension system, a more responsive eight-speed automatic transmission, and new hardware.

Paired with the all-rounder Pirelli P Zero Corsa Tires with 20-inch wheels, which were previously seen on the RS 4 Competition, it’s a complete joyride bundle.

All things considered, the automaker made sure to bid farewell to the Audi RS 4 Avant properly.

Audi’s portfolio is going to see significant changes in the near future, as the last-ever R8 left the factory recently.

The bright yellow is a dead giveaway.

If you want to own one of these, the automaker will only send out 250 units of the Edition 25 Years.

For now, it’s a Europe-exclusive deal to make things more competitive.
