Jaw-dropping timepiece made from parts of Ayrton Senna’s car

This watch is made using bits crafted from the engine of the F1 car that Ayrton Senna drove in 1986.

And this is not a figure of speech.

This timepiece is literally made out of Ayrton Senna’s single-seater racer.

Automakers are constantly experimenting with new ideas, from the watch made from cheese (!), to the timepiece made from a material that’s nearly invisible.

REC Watches went down a different route and came up with an ingenious idea that’ll make car lovers very happy.

The company, based out of Denmark, incorporates components recycled from iconic vehicles into the case, the dial and the bezel of the watch.

And don’t worry, the vehicles aren’t damaged in the process, because REC simply uses bits that are scrapped when the vehicle undergoes restoration.

Among others, they’ve created watches crafted from components salvaged from a vintage Land Rover, classic Ford Mustangs, classic MINIs, a swathe of RWB-modified Porsche 911 models, and even Evel Knievel’s motorcycle.

They even made a watch crafted from a fighter jet.

This particular timepiece, dubbed 98T/4, is made using a fragment of the engine that powered the Lotus 98T, chassis #4, that Ayrton Senna raced eight times during the 1986 F1 season.

The watch, just like the car, features the iconic JPS (John Player Special) black and gold livery, and is limited to 989 pieces only.

It’s not cheap, though.

It is currently available for pre-order, with a price tag of $3,195.

And that’s just the pre-order price, because the full price will be $3,995 when the watch drops in March 2025.

And yes, that’s the other thing to bear in mind.

You can pre-order the watch now, but deliveries are only scheduled for next year.
