Even 9 years after its launch, Koenigsegg Regera is still setting records

The Koenigsegg Regera is still setting records and turning heads, even nine years after its launch.

Unveiled in 2015, the Regera is still one of the hottest and most coveted cars among collectors.

This explains why everyone starts paying attention when a new one emerges on the market.

This one is available from SBX Cars, and it’s only done less than 1,000 miles.

Regera is actually Swedish for ‘to reign,’ ‘to rule’, and – in the realm of high-performance hypercars – the Regera still stands out.

A record-breaking powertrain

The Regera is powered by something called the ‘Koenigsegg Direct Drive’ system.

The system combines a 5.0-liter V8 engine, fed by 3D-printed turbochargers, and three electric motors.

The result is a grand total of 1,500 horsepower – which is also a record – because it means that the Regera is the most powerful hybrid supercar, even more than the McLaren P1 GTR.

Thanks to this wonderful engine, the Regera set a record that it then proceeded to break again years later.

In 2019, it broke the 0-400-0 km/h (0-249-0 mph) acceleration record for a production car with a time of 31.49 seconds.

Four years later in 2023, Koenigsegg reclaimed the record (from Rimac) by setting a new time of just 28.81 seconds.

Koenigsegg Regera spec and trim

The model you see here – finished in Nordic Blue with a white leather interior – is fitted with carbon everything.

It has a carbon front splitter, rear diffuser, rear wing, wheels and ceramic brakes, and carbon fiber seats for the cabin.

Some of these features are included in the ‘Ghost’ aero package, designed to make the car more aerodynamically efficient.

It’s wild to think this package alone cost the owner $285,000, which is more than most supercars.

A rare and valuable car

Only 80 units exist, and this one is available with just 1,462 km (937 miles) on the clock.
