Rimac CEO teases autonomous robotaxi that will ‘change the lives of more people’

Rimac Group founder and Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac posted a video teasing the group’s new autonomous robotaxi.
As to what it looks like, we will only get to see that on June 26, according to the post.
Rimac captioned the post: “26th of June we’ll unveil something very special we’ve been working on for the last 5 years. Stay tuned.”

The video is likely meant to tease the firm’s new self-driving autonomous robotaxi.
It shows a cutout of a car juxtaposed with flickering photos of urban scenes.
There’s also music in the background containing lyrics that mention traveling ‘through the city’s veins’ and stating ‘we ride from dawn to noon.’
All of this seems to hint towards the firm’s upcoming robotaxi set to debut in 2024.
Rimac is best known for its high-performance electric vehicle technology, including the record-breaking Nevera electric hypercar.
The Rimac Nevera is known for setting a new top speed record for EVs at 415 km/h (256 mph).
You can also watch the EV car that set a new Guinness World Record by driving backward at a speed of 275 km/h (171 mph).
However, it seems the company is now changing its focus from supercars to self-driving taxis.
Code-named Project 3 Mobility, the plans for the autonomous robotaxi were first announced in 2021.
The company has previously hinted that it will showcase a highly autonomous robotaxi in early 2024 and plans for that vehicle to be in commercial operation by 2026.
The robotaxi is being developed with backing from Kia, which has a small stake in the privately owned Rimac group.
Croatia’s capital, Zagreb is expected to be the first city where the robotaxis are launched, as that is where the Rimac headquarters is located.
Rimac has also said it was in negotiations with 20 additional cities in Europe and the Middle East to launch the service.
We will just have to wait until June 26 to see what the Rimac robotaxi offers and if it’s going to be any good.
If it works, calling an Uber might be a lot more convenient in the future.
