When you see a classic, rusty Harley Davidson motorcycle, what do you do? Obviously, you save it.

That’s exactly what these guys did.

Hidden under a pile of junk, they discovered a forgotten treasure – a 1947 Harley Davidson WL.

Matt Wlaksler, the man in charge, was called to check out a trailer filled with old motorcycles and parts.

1947 Harley Davidson WL found in a trailer

As he dug through the mess, he found a few classic bikes, but the one that really stood out was the 1947 Harley Davidson.

The bike was in rough shape, but he couldn’t let it go to waste.

The video of this amazing find was uploaded to the YouTube channel, Wheels Through Time, which is known for saving countless classic pieces like these.

As they cleared out the trailer, they found bike frames, engines, and other parts.

Most of the bikes were in terrible condition, including this Harley, but it was still something special.

Thus, the bike was taken straight to the garage for restoration, just like this 55-year-old abandoned motorcycle.

While the bike wasn’t in its best state, Matt and his team were determined to bring it back to life.

The motorcycle was finally saved

The spark advance needed fixing, the generator screw had to be replaced, and the transmission, clutch, and wiring were all checked.

They also added new plugs, a battery, and a seat.

Removing the rust was a big part of the job, too.

Even though the bike still looked old and worn, the team’s main focus was to save this classic.

After their hard work, the 1947 Harley Davidson WL roared to life, just like it did back in the day. It was incredible that they managed to save it.

In the end, they took it for a test ride and even did some burnouts.

It was amazing to see the old Harley back on the road, not unlike this grandpa’s emotional surprise when he saw his 1954 International pickup truck had been restored.
