The Force is strong in these two Star Wars electric VW vans

These are the cars you’re looking for.

Volkswagen and Lucasfilm, the creators of the iconic Star Wars franchise, have teamed up to make these sick ID. Buzz vehicles.

The fruits of this collaboration were seen on the red carpet of the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, which started streaming on Friday.

The show cars come in two editions inspired by the Dark Side’s Darth Vader and the Light Side’s Obi Wan.

VW’s ID. Buzz is electric and is a return to the brand’s famed Kombi bus.

ID. Buzz Light Side Edition

Ahhh yes, the Force is strong in this one.

The Light Side Edition’s beige skin took inspiration from Kenobi’s tunic.

The upper section has shiny chrome, a nod to the spaceships and droids of the Star Wars universe.

While the blue line wrapping around the car, which also goes into the headlights and light strip, symbolizes the lightsaber carried by the Jedi Master.

The blue hue continues on the glass surfaces.

And this design would not be complete without a reference to the Rebel Alliance, with the logo on the side windows and center caps of the rims.

Just like on an X-Wing.

ID. Buzz Dark Side Edition

I’m not going to lie, I’ve always been someone who has resonated with the Dark Side more (I am also a Slytherin).

So the Dark Side Edition would be my pick between the two.

As mentioned before, this version of the Buzz Cargo takes inspo from Star Wars’ ultimate villain, Darth Vader.

The lower body’s shiny black exterior is obviously an homage to the Sith Lord’s armor.

And the upper section is covered in matte black (not quite as shiny as Vader’s helmet).

Like its counterpart, its wraparound lighting and windows also take queues from Vader’s lightsaber, which is red.

And of course, the cargo has the logo of the evil Empire on the body and its 21-inch rims.

Volkswagen Head of Design Jozef Kabaň said the lettering on the rear of the vans was designed with the classic Star Wars “Aubrebesh” font instead of the standard one for VW models.

“It’s about bringing together two icons,” Kabaň said.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi sees the return of iconic characters from Star Wars and is sure to connect generations worldwide – as will the VW Bus, whose mythology will enter the new era of electromobility with the ID. Buzz.”

The ID. Buzz is already available in Europe for almost $70,000, but it will be unveiled in the US next year.
