Two Tesla employees confirm how many Cybertruck orders there are per day

  • Two Tesla employees have revealed the number of new Cybertruck orders the company is receiving per day since the delivery event
  • Tesla already received around 2 million pre-orders of the EV pickup truck prior to the event
  • If the volume of new orders coming in continues, Tesla is going to have a major problem on its hands and will need to get all hands on deck to ramp up production

Two Tesla employees confirm how many Cybertruck orders there are per day

Rumor has it, Tesla is receiving close to 10,000 Cybertruck orders per day since the delivery event.

That’s what Matthew Donegan-Ryan, who has been a reliable source in the past on X, has stated.

Apparently, he’s been told this by two Tesla employees.

There’s no denying it – that’s an extraordinary amount of orders.

Especially when you consider it’s been 28 days since the delivery event.

So, at a guess, that’s more than 250,000 new orders that have come in and with less than 500 units of the Cybertruck having already been delivered.

That must mean the existing backlog is in excess of 2,250,000.

Bearing in mind this is new orders of the Cybertruck – not existing orders that already constitute a significant 2 million pre-order backlog.

So, as you’ve probably already established, the Cybertruck looks like it’s going to be sold out for the forseeable.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has already stated scaling production of a vehicle like the Cybertruck is hard.

Musk foresees “enormous challenges” in ramping up Cybertruck production, mainly because the pickup requires new manufacturing processes.

He estimates that it’ll take around 18 months until the EV pickup is cashflow positive.

It won’t be until some point in 2025 – once Tesla has navigated these production challenges – when the company will be producing “roughly” 250,000 units a year, Musk predicts.

If the volume of new orders coming in continues, Tesla is going to have a major problem on its hands and will need to get all hands on deck to ramp up production – just like they did for the Model 3.

Obviously, it’d be wise to take these reported order numbers with a pinch of salt.

However, we’ve seen multiple celebrities and videos of the EV pickup generating millions of views, so it’s not hard to believe.

It’s fair to say Tesla took a big gamble with the Cybertruck, but it appears to be paying off.
