The DeLorean Alpha 5 supercar is being reintroduced after 40 years with production scheduled for 2024 – and it’s a perfect blend of nostalgia and innovative tech.

The fully electric supercar has a top speed of 249 km/h (155 mph) and can go 0-100 km/h / 0-62 mph in just over three seconds.

It has a range of 482 kilometers (300 miles).

For fans of the Back To The Future franchise, it features the iconic gullwing doors that will stir some serious feelings of nostalgia – only now they can be opened with the swipe of a hand on its smart panel.

When opened, they feature light panels on the front and back that continue down onto the bumper.

And it seems another EV giant is getting in on the act as this modern ‘Back to the Future’ DeLorean time machine was built from a Tesla Model X.

But it’s the futuristic interior of the DeLorean that is really bringing the driver Back To The Future and beyond.

“This car is about connecting you to your family and friends when you’re not physically with them,” explains Supercar Blondie herself, Alex Hirshi as she takes us on a video tour.

When you buy the car you receive a wristband that you can give to a loved one – and when they’re wearing it it can detect their body temperature and heartbeat, feeding it back to you via the driver’s seat.

But that’s not the best part: your friend, family member or partner can actually send you virtual hugs and kisses through tactile sensations in the car.

When delivered, the sides of the chair come in to actually hug you and an air vent behind the driver’s neck blows air that is said to feel like a kiss.

Other features include a display that can either feature modern-day dials or 80s-style dials reminiscent of the original DMC-12 and a USB port that masquerades as an original air-conditioning gauge.

While die-hard fans will agree that it doesn’t look too much like the original DMC-12, its groundbreaking tech, larger design, gullwing doors, and aluminum body mean it’s certainly the most pleasurable driving experience: past, present, or future.

If you want to go back in time, this time capsule’ DeLorean was uncovered in a barn.
