Ford has announced that they will be adding one of Tesla’s most unique features to their own vehicles.

Let’s just say the news might make you want to sing with joy.

That’s right – karaoke is coming to Ford.

Tesla first launched Caraoke in 2019, much to the delight of out-of-tune singers and the disdain of their family and friends.

Karaoke allows Tesla drivers to display the lyrics to a ‘wide selection of songs’ on the dash screen without interfering with any other information the driver needs to know.

Users are given the option to opt for vocals or go solo.

Unfortunately – or mercifully, in some cases – there is no option to record yourself singing.

So what will Ford’s take on karaoke do differently?

It’ll add the karaoke in through the Stingray Karaoke App, starting with the F-150 Lightning.

The Mustang Mach-E is set to follow, as reported by Teslarati.

In a statement, Ford said: “Owners, their friends, and their family can enjoy karaoke, courtesy of the Stingray Karaoke App, right from the in-vehicle screen while parked and on the go.

“It’s an awesome way to spend time with family and friends while stopped to charge!”

The statement continued: “Owners and passengers can find a wide selection of songs and music styles from Rock, Country, Pop, R&B, Latin, K&J Pop and family-friendly tunes for all ages.

“Songs are available in 38 languages, including 10 languages in local characters such as Thai, Hebrew, Russian and Greek, plus a multilingual interface with 36 languages available.”

Music and cars go so nicely together – who can bear to drive without a soundtrack?

But one concept car actually wedded the two together in a different way, as the car was based on an actual musical instrument.

How will the karaoke work in Ford cars?

Karaoke will be available while vehicles are stationary or driving.

Once the vehicle detects that everybody is buckled up, a QR code will appear on the in-vehicle screen.

Passengers will then use this code to open up a webpage, allowing them to control the karaoke experience from their phones.

From here, they can create playlists, shuffle songs and utilize the car’s audio system.

In addition to the F-150 Lightning and Mach-E, the Stingray App will be available at a later date in the 2025 Ford Explorer, 2025 Lincoln Navigator, 2025 Lincoln Aviator and 2025 Lincoln Nautilus.

Speaking of cars with a musical twist, the BYD Han also has a karaoke system in place – partly owing to the popularity of karaoke in the BYD’s native China.
