Hyundai teases IONIQ 5 N in new promo video

It’s no secret there’s a Hyundai IONIQ 5 N in the offing.

The South Korean automotive company confirmed it was working on the hot electric crossover back in July.

Other than some spied prototype pictures, we’ve not actually seen IONIQ 5 N in the flesh – that was until now.

Hyundai has released a video about its high-performance N Brand, and the RN22e and N Vision 74 Rolling Labs that are facilitating its electrified future.

The video also includes a cameo appearance by IONIQ 5 N wrapped in an N-specific camouflage membrane with a pattern of pixels and checkered flags.

The reason behind this – it’s meant to represent driving fun in the electrified era.

In its first-ever appearance, IONIQ 5 N is seen running side by side with RN22e and N Vision 74 for about three seconds.

Hardly enough time to get a proper look, but we’ve spotted a deeper and more aggressive front spoiler.

It also appears to have more vents at the front, as well as a wider track, wider fenders, and a lower ride height.

Unfortunately, the video only teased the front of IONIQ 5 N and not the side or rear.

However, judging from the previous spy photos we’ve seen, it has a roof spoiler and what appears to be a rear diffuser.

In terms of performance, we don’t know any official figures, but it’s likely to have as much, if not more performance, than the Kia EV6 GT.

According to Kia, the EV6 GT’s all-wheel drive powertrain produces 577hp of power 546lb-ft of torque, which it claims can do 0-100km (0-62mph) in 3.5 seconds.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 unveiling

IONIQ 5 N’s cameo appearance in the video has really whetted our appetite – guess we’re going to have to wait until it’s officially unveiled in 2023 to find out more, though.
