The longest truck in the world is the length of 156 London BUSES

The longest truck in the world is a road train in Australia that measured nearly 1.5km (1 mile).

The Guinness World Record is held by truck driver John Atkinson, who pulled off this crazy achievement in front of a crowd of locals.

Atkinson drove a single Mack Titan prime mover while towing 112 trailers. He hauled them for 150 meters to break the record.

The record of 1,474.3 meters (4,836 feet, 11 inches) was set on February 18, 2006 in Clifton, a small country town in the state of Queensland.

That’s as long as 156 London buses lined up in a row.

The record was an event sponsored by Australian steakhouse chain Hog’s Breath Café.

Guinness World Records’ Chris Sheedy was there when the record was broken back in 2006.

“It’s been broken four times since [1994], but only by Australians,” he told 7News at the time.

“It’s a classically Australian record.”

The record was only beaten that day by 30 meters (98 feet, five inches) set by a truck in Kalgoorlie, in the state of Western Australia.

Before the attempt, Atkinson wasn’t too confident he could do it.

But when the battle was finally won, he said: “How good’s that truck?”

Event organizer Mick Boyce said it had been a tough task to get the trailers to the final spot.

“We had problems we had to overcome and we did run out of dollies and they had to be shifted in from Toowoomba,” he told the ABC after the record was toppled.

“There was a last-minute panic but the boys came through and it started to wheel stand but no, it did the job, so it was 1,474.3 meters long – so yes, it’s big.”

And that classic Aussie sense of humor shone through in a message to the previous record holder, Doug Gould.

“Sorry Dougie! Now you have the 2nd longest road train in the west,” a sign that was draped over the truck read.

Road trains are the longest trucks in the world.

They are common in Outback Australia can have 28 axles and more than 100 wheels.
