Chevrolet leaked the upcoming hybrid Corvette E-Ray by accidentally adding a configurator on its website.

It was taken down shortly thereafter but it was too late because people had already taken screenshots of it.

And the unequivocal ‘E-Ray’ number plate gave it away.

It’s unclear whether Chevy did this on purpose to create some buzz or not.

It may have been a genuine mistake but either way, now it’s out there.

The hybrid Corvette will be based on the C8 Stingray, and it will deliver at least 600 hp from an electrified powertrain.

The current-gen Corvette C8 Stingray is powered by an old school 6.2-liter V8.

Meanwhile the new hybrid Corvette, which is called the ‘E-Ray’, will ditch the V8 in favor of a smaller, high-performance hybrid powertrain.

It may be a V6 or perhaps even a four-cylinder engine.

What we do know is that the engine, whatever the size, will make at least 490 hp.

As for the electric motor, it will deliver at least 100+ horsepower.

We don’t know whether the car will be a plug-in hybrid or a mild hybrid.

However, it should be noted that the car doesn’t seem to have any charging ports.

The new E-Ray will likely be marketed and sold alongside the standard gas-powered Stingray.

Having said that, in the not-too-distant future, it may replace the Stingray entirely.

And sooner or later, an all-electric version will debut.

About the Chevrolet C8

When the Corvette C8 was launched in 2020, it made headlines because it was the first-ever mid-engine Corvette.

It is available as a two-door coupe or a two-door convertible, both of which are powered by the same 490-hp 6.2-liter V8.

Ironically, the engine that powers the high-performance variant, which is called the Z06, is actually smaller.

The range-topping Z06 uses a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8, which puts out 670 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

It does 0-60 in just 2.6 seconds.
