Despite owning a huge fleet of 281 cars including a McLaren P1 and Dodge Viper, the Tata Nano of Jay Leno holds a special place in his heart.
The popular former TV show host and car enthusiast called it a ‘great city car’.
But it’s the fact that it was touted as the world’s cheapest car that really impressed him.

“It’s no different than all those electric cars, you see running around and it’s $2,700…it’s amazing,” Jay Leno told CNN.
“I like this car for what it represents to India.
“To me, India is turning up with more engineers and scientists than anyone else. In the old days, technology was expensive and labor was cheap. Now, it flipped.
“Now technology is cheap and labor is expensive.”
He added: “To me, it’s not necessarily about the car. It is what the car represents,” he said.
While he claims he will never own a Ferrari, Jay Leno owns 281 cars.
He even claims to have acquired a ‘gazillion dollar’ Lambo for absolutely nothing.
After retiring from an epic career in television, he now tells other petrolheads all about his fleet via his YouTube channel, ‘Jay Leno’s Garage’.
It’s thought he added the Tata Nano to his collection in May of 2012.
The ‘people’s car’ was launched in 2009 as part of Tata Motors’ successful journey to becoming a global auto company.
Plans were announced to stop production in 2019 before the last Tata Nano was delivered in 2020.
And Jay Leno isn’t the only wealthy fan of the cut-price and discontinued car.
Hotel tycoon and Indian businessman, Ratan Tata, who is worth $291 billion, was also seen driving the Tata Nano.
But if you feel like you’ve missed the boat, don’t worry.
The Tata Nano EV is an upcoming four-seat electric hatchback powered by an electric motor.
It has a 40 kWh Li-ion Battery that can provide up to 250 km range on a single charge, thanks to its outstanding Lithium Ion battery pack.
It will require just one hour to reach full charge and prioritizes safety with four airbags, automatic headlamps, a crash sensor, parking sensors, and cruise control to boost the driving experience.
