Rockstar, actor, alleged firearms specialist, Baba Yaga, and now a race car driver — Keanu Reeves has just announced that he will be racing a Toyota GR86 in a US race in a matter of days.
That’s right, the Hollywood superstar is gearing up for his spot in the Toyota GR Cup at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
This by no means is the beginning of a racing career for Reeves, but a one-off guest appearance.
The reveal came as a surprise to fans because the race is only a few days away.

Keanu Reeves to attempt racing again
It’s no secret that Keanu Reeves is a motorhead, and he has been for quite some while now.
If you didn’t know, he also owns a motorcycle company called ‘Arch Motorcycles’, which he co-founded back in 2011.
Although he has a sizeable car collection, he rarely makes track appearances.
However, the GR Cup gig won’t be his first race either, as he has been behind the wheel on a track a couple of times earlier.
It was two races in the Long Beach Celebrity Race — in 2009 and later in 2010.
The timing and details of the announcement were both surprising because it was just him saying that he would be racing and the event itself would take place this weekend.
He posted a short clip on multiple social media platforms, and most of the comments everywhere were mostly from people who were surprised.
It certainly wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card for this year.
Additionally, Keanu Reeves didn’t disclose many details, which are sparse at this point.
This race, however, is reportedly amateur-focused, so we expect to see several surprising racers.
He will race in a Toyota GR86 for the GR Cup
YouTube icon, Cody Jones, from the channel ‘Dude Perfect’ is also reportedly participating in this weekend’s GR Cup.
If anything, it will undoubtedly be an exciting sight to watch.
The Toyota GR86 that Reeves will drive is quite similar to others in the event, and it’s essentially a buffed-up track variant of the road car.
These upgrades include a Bosch engine management unit and an upgraded six-speed sequential manual transmission.
Add a few more modifications — including a new exhaust, shockers, brakes, and a roll cage — and you get the track variant of the Toyota GR86.
