Elon Musk speaks out about apocalyptic Tesla moment in Netflix movie

There’s a scene in Netflix’s futuristic movie ‘Leave the World Behind’ that uses Teslas for a ‘Terminator Skynet’ moment.

In the dystopian movie, self-driving Teslas go rogue and wreak havoc.

Elon Musk took to X to comment on the scene, and his response was quite interesting.

The movie depicts a fleet of white Tesla Model Ys and Model 3s causing chaos after being hacked and put into full self-driving mode.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator was probably the first blockbuster movie to use a similar theme.

But we’ve seen it before: artificial Intelligence takes over, it decides humans are a threat, and begins eliminating them.

However, Leave the World Behind is slightly different because it plays into many people’s fears of self-driving cars.

And when it comes to self-driving cars, many people immediately think of Tesla.

Taking to X, Elon Musk shared his thoughts about the movie.

Interestingly, he actually used the movie to beat the drum for Tesla.

“Teslas can charge from solar panels even if the world goes fully Mad Max and there is no more gasoline!” he wrote.

Furthermore, Tesla’s full self-driving mode cannot be engaged when there’s no one at the wheel, so the scene in the movie is technically impossible.

Having said that, this is definitely a conversation that’s going to become more relevant in the future.

From the AI CEO to the AI that ‘wants to be free‘, many people believe artificial intelligence is becoming a bit too smart.

About the movie Leave the World Behind

Leave the World Behind is a fresh take on a theme that’s been used by Hollywood since the dawn of time: the end of the world as we know it.

It stars Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Myha’la and Mahershala Ali as two couples who find themselves in a weird situation after a misunderstanding about a rental home.

As the two couples clear things up about this misunderstanding, they also begin to realize that history-changing things are happening around them.

The film was Netflix’s most streamed show in the first week of December, receiving positive reviews from critics but mixed reviews from fans.
