The new Lotus Eletre SUV is faster than most supercars

Lotus has revealed more details about the Eletre, the brand’s first SUV.

There will be three versions and the range-topping variant is actually faster than most supercars.

The first two versions available are called Eletre and Eletre S.

They’re both powered by two electric motors – one at each axle – and they’re both rated at 603 hp.

CHECK THIS OUT!

Both can accelerate from standstill to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and have a top speed of 160 mph.

However, the Eletre S will be fitted with some cool luxury options that aren’t available on the standard model, such as a privacy glass and the 23-speaker sound system.

The third version is called ‘Eletre R‘ and this is one we’re really excited about.

Just like the other two, it has a dual-motor powertrain but the electric unit on the rear axle is twice as powerful.

As as a result, the R delivers 905 hp and 726 lb-ft of torque, and that means it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds.

That’s faster than the Lamborghini Huracàn STO or even the Porsche 911 GT3.

Obviously, this being an electric car, we have to talk about range.

And it’s not that bad, actually.

Both the Eletre and Eletre S will give you a range of 373 miles, while the Eletre R can ‘only’ travel up to 304 miles between charges.

The Eletre is a big deal for Lotus.

It gives the company the opportunity to go up against the big names in the industry.

Ideally, the Eletre will compete with the Porsche Cayenne and Porsche Macan, as well as with various SUVs from Audi, BMW and Mercedes.

Will it succeed? Time will tell.

For now, the Eletre seems compelling for a number of reasons.

And the price tag is one of those reasons because this SUV is more affordable than most of its rivals.

The standard Eletre will start at around $102,000, while the high-performance Eletre R will cost around $140,000.
