Mercedes-AMG is reportedly developing a groundbreaking all-electric supercar, inspired by the Vision One-Eleven concept car.

The retro-looking concept car was first shown off last year and was inspired by the original 1969 C 111 concept.

The unnamed high-performance electric supercar is described as a “brand-defining successor to the SLS Electric Drive.”

While the SLS Electric Drive (released in 2013) was limited to just nine examples, the new electric supercar will have significantly higher production numbers.

The new electric supercar is considered to be a key part of the future for Mercedes-AMG.

It is also expected to outpace the 1049bhp F1-powered Mercedes-AMG One V6/electric hybrid.

The new electric supercar inspired by the Vision One-Eleven concept car is set to use the AMG.EA architecture.

This platform has been engineered specifically for AMG’s electric models and is modular in design.

So it can be used on cars with varying lengths, wheelbase, and track widths. Making it suitable for a wide range of models.

It is the same architecture that will be used in the upcoming production version of the Vision AMG — an electric replacement of the current AMG GT 4-Door Coupé.

Specs for the new supercar

The new Mercedes-AMG all-electric supercar will use an 800V electric architecture and a new cylindrical-cell lithium-ion battery.

It will be powered by high-revving axial flux electric motors from British company, Yasa.

These motors have already been used for the plug-in hybrid systems in the 986bhp Ferrari SF90 Stradale and the 1479bhp-plus Koenigsegg Regera.

Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-AMG, sees the axial-flux motor in the same way as AMG’s various V8 petrol engines.

“Customers who came to the brand because of the V8 did not come because they just wanted to have a big engine,” said Schiebe.

“They came because they loved the technology that we put into the car. So when it comes to electric driving, I’m pretty sure they will jump into that new technology because it will be the latest and greatest that you can get,” he added.
