MrBeast reveals his earnings from posting first video on X, but admits a problem

MrBeast finally uploaded his first piece of content on Elon Musk’s X and made a lot of cash from it.
But there’s a catch.

Believe it or not, it all started because an X user told MrBeast he should upload content to X as well.
Elon Musk joined the X thread with a simple one-word comment that simply read “yeah”.
Still, it was enough to convince MrBeast to give it a go.
First, the world’s most subscribed YouTuber said it wasn’t worth it because his videos cost a fortune to make and X’s ad revenue wouldn’t cover the cost.
However, not long after, he changed his mind and uploaded one of his most recent (and popular) videos, promising to share ad revenue from X a few days later.
MrBeast said his video made over $260,000 in ad revenue with 156+ million views.
That’s not only impressive, it is actually more than he made on YouTube, where he ‘only’ made $167,000 for 77 million views.
But there’s a catch.
Actually, two of them.
First, YouTube and X don’t count ‘views’ in the same way.
On YouTube, a ‘view’ means you actually hit play and watch the video, or at least a portion of it.
On X, a ‘view’ is actually an impression, ie, it means the user simply ‘saw’ the post and X still counts it as a ‘view’ even if you don’t actually watch the video at all.
Second, and perhaps more importantly, this was probably a one-off because MrBeast’s upload received a lot of attention, including from Musk himself.
MrBeast shared a screenshot of his monetization tab and several X creators pointed out that’s not the same as the one they’ve got.
Also, and this is perhaps even more important, MrBeast himself said he made so much because the ‘event’ got the attention of advertisers, who decided to step in and cash in on this.
“It’s a bit of a facade. Advertisers saw the attention it was getting and bought ads on my video (I think) and thus my revenue per view is prob higher than what you’d experience,” MrBeast wrote on X.
Still, since it clearly paid off, we can safely expect another attempt soon.
