Scientist claims to have evidence we’re living in a simulation

A scientist has claimed that he might have evidence that we’re living in a simulation.

If you have ever watched the movie ‘The Matrix,’ you will have an idea of what living in a simulation must look like.

Melvin Vopson is a scientist from the University of Portsmouth who studies the possibility that the universe might be a digital simulation.

What if the human civilization and the entire universe are just a bunch of ones and zeros on a hyper-advanced supercomputer?

Over the years, many scientists have contemplated the idea of reality being a simulation.

However, Vopson seems to have some evidence to back it up. And it is all based on the second law of thermodynamics.

“One of the most powerful laws is the second law of thermodynamics, which establishes that entropy—a measure of disorder in an isolated system – can only increase or stay the same, but it will never decrease.”

Vospon defines information as a “fifth state of matter.”

That’s why he expected that entropy in information systems should similarly increase over time. 

However, that’s not the case as it remains constant, or even decreases to a minimum value at equilibrium. 

This is in direct contradiction to the second law of Information Dynamics that Vospon adopted from the second law of thermodynamics.

“We know the universe is expanding without the loss or gain of heat, which requires the total entropy of the universe to be constant,” Vopson wrote in The Conversation.

“However we also know from thermodynamics that entropy is always rising. I argue this shows that there must be another entropy—information entropy—to balance the increase.”

In the end, Vospon estimates that the Second Law of Infodynamics could also be used to prove that we live in a simulation.

Vospon also planned to conduct experiments to prove we’re living in a simulation.

Last October he also published the book, Reality Reloaded, a subtle nod to the less popular sequel of ‘The Matrix.’

It’s possible that his research could lead to some interesting discoveries, but it should be noted that there are many research papers claiming to refute our digital existence.
