These are the lavish watches the world’s richest people typically wear

The world’s richest people could afford to buy literally any watch they want, and yet some of them wear surprisingly humble pieces.

From Bernard Arnault’s super rare Patek to Bill Gates‘ super cheap Casio, some of them aren’t what you’d expect to find on the wrists of the world’s richest people.

Bill Gates and his $50 watch

Bill Gates famously wears a Duro, a divers watch made by Casio.

Powered by quartz and water resistant up to 200 meters, the Duro is one of the world’s least expensive dive watches at $50.

Not bad for a guy that’s worth $113 billion.

Warren Buffett’s gold Rolex

Warren Buffett may drive a humble car, but there’s nothing humble about the watch he chooses to wear.

The world’s fifth-richest person is often spotted wearing a yellow gold Rolex Day-Date, valued at around $23,000.

That’s not cheap… unless your name is Warren Buffet and you have a net worth of $117 billion.

Jack Dorsey and his rare Cartier

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey can sometimes be seen wearing a rare iteration of the Cartier Crash.

This skeletonized version of the Crash isn’t cheap, coming in at around $86,000.

Mind you, with a net worth exceeding $3.4 billion, Dorsey can probably afford it, can’t he?

Larry Ellison’s $125k Richard Mille

Oracle founder Larry Ellison is often photographed with a rare Richard Mille RM05 on his wrist.

Like all Richard Mille watches, this is rare, hard to get, and expensive.

In today’s market, this watch is worth around $125,000.

Elon Musk also owns a Richard Mille

You often hear about how Musk drives the same Tesla every day and lives in a $50,000 home.

But back in the day, things were different, because Musk was actually a big spender when he was younger.

He once bought a rare McLaren F1 and was often seen wearing a Richard Mille RM029, worth around $150,000 today.

These days he tends to dial it down a notch, which explains why he now wears an Omega.

With an average market value of $5,000, the Omega Aqua Terra he sometimes wears is a lot cheaper than his old RM.

Still pretty expensive, though.

Bernard Arnault’s ultra-rare Patek Nautilus

Bernard Arnault is the CEO of LVMH – a company that owns, among others, Bulgari, Hublot, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany.

So naturally, he’s the one with the most expensive watch on the list.

Arnault owns a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5740 with a Tiffany dial.

This watch’s ‘little brother’, the 5711, is super rare with only 170 in existence.

This is even rarer, in that there is only one in the world.

The 5711 is worth $5 million in the pre-owned market.

This one is priceless, because we’re fairly sure Arnault isn’t planning to sell it anytime soon.
