A YouTuber decided to take a Corvette off-roading on some sand dunes.

A two-door, two-seater sports car, the Corvette has been manufactured and marketed by General Motors under the Chevrolet marque since 1953.

But have you ever wondered what would happen if you took a Corvette off-roading?

No, neither have we – but YouTube content creator Westen “G & W” Champlin gave it a go.

The Corvette was fitted with a new set of wheels

This isn’t the first sports car we’ve seen made for off-roading – don’t forget the Dakar which just might be the craziest thing Porsche has ever released.

Or there’s the Ruf Rodeo – an off-road supercar based on the Porsche 911 – which comes with a flat-six sending out 610 horsepower.

If neither of those are wild enough for you, then let’s take a closer look at Champlin’s off-road Corvette.

To be fair, the YouTuber had previously taken his sports car off-roading.

However, based on his previous exploits, he opted to fit a set of 15-inch wheels with nine-inch-wide paddle tires.

Of course, a set of spacers had to be fitted in order to make it work, but the new wheel fitted like a dream.

Here’s how it turned out

With the new wheels and tires fitted to the sports car, Champlin headed out to the dunes with an Australian friend, who was behind the wheel of a modified Toyota Hilux.

The pair decided that during their time in the dunes, they’d pit their vehicles against each other by taking part in a drag race.

Now if you thought there would be one clear winner, you thought wrong – the Corvette powered across the soft sand, taking to it like a duck to water.

Although the Hilux’s height advantage allowed it to thrash around in the sand pulling donuts, Champlin was nevertheless impressed with his more-than-capable sports car.

“Oh dude, it’s so much better than it used to be,” Champlin exclaimed, as he took to the dunes in his altered ride.

“Before it was struggling so hard, now it just barely struggles to get out of here – it was amazing.”

If you’ve seen any of Champlin’s videos on YouTube previously, you’ll know he has a tendency to break things.

Thankfully, this time round his weapon of choice, aka the off-roading Corvette, managed to escape unscathed.

No doubt the YouTuber plans many more days in the dunes; his followers hope so anyway.
